The letter was published June 9 in the San JoseMercuruy News. “Our plan is to keep the people and products of Data Domai n intact and operate your company as a productt divisionwithin EMC. ... The board of directors at Data Domai n issued a statement June 4 saying it isexamining Mass.-based EMC’s (NYSE: EMC) unsoliciter bid to buy the companh and advised shareholders to put asids their decision until their reviee is complete. Data Domain had been considering a proposapfrom Sunnyvale, Calif.-based .

In responser to EMC’s offer, NetApp sweetened its offe r Wednesdayto $30 per share in cash and The Data Domain board said in its prepareds written statement it will releasr its position on the EMC offer beforr June 16, and reaffirmed its recommendation in favore of the merger with NetApp. Despite the Data Domainj board request for shareholders to stay mum on the bidding war until it reacheda decision, Tucci’s open lettee Tuesday took direct aim at potentialluy influencing the company’s stakeholders.
