Arizona State University’s poll also showed that support for health care reform is highestamong middle-age respondents. Close to two-thirdsw of those ages 31 to 44 and 61 percent of thosew ages 45 to 60said “a grear deal of reform” is needed. Fewe than 10 percent in these two age categoriesindicated “no reform” is needed at all. Resultw from the poll were basedr ona 45-question telephone poll conducted by the Institutre for Social Science Research at ASU. The poll askedr 501 adult residentsin Nevada, New Mexico and Texas theird opinions on several issues, includinb health care costs and quality, electronic medical recordzs and the economy.
On the questionm of the U.S. government guaranteeing healthu insurance forall Americans, even if it meant raisinf taxes, support was highest among younger respondents, while 42 percent of respondents age 61 and older said they are “strongly opposed.” Specifically, 53 percent of all the respondentws “strongly” or “somewhat” favored the U.S. governmenyt guaranteeing health insurance. That figure jumpe d to 61 percent for those ages 18 to 30 and decreased amongoldeer respondents.
