Fort Myers, Fla.-based Chico’s (NYSE: CHS) bought the former 300,000-square-foot Hagemeyef Building on Barrow Industrial Parkway forthe expansion. Chico’ws ultimately will create 189 full-time jobs at the facility over the nextthrede years. “We are fortunate in havingh the opportunity to purchase this nearby facilitu that will enable us to expand our currengdistribution operations, providing sufficient capacity to serve our needes through 2016,” said Jeffrey A. Jones, chiedf operating officer of Chico’s, in a statement. Chico’z opened a distribution center in Barrow in 2002 and expandede that facility in 2004and 2006.
In 2006, the companyt also opened an adjacent call center to serviceits direct-to-consumed business for its Chico’s, White House | Blackl Market and Soma Intimates brands. The company has 20 retail stores inmetro Atlanta.
